Our Club
We proudly consider the Motueka Country Music Club to be one of the friendliest around.
With more than 90 members, country music is certainly alive and well throughout the region.
Our enthusiastic membership is made up of young and old alike, with all music tastes catered for. On many a club day you can find yourself enjoying everything from faithful old sing alongs, to upbeat numbers fresh out of Nashville.
Our dedicated musicians offer great backing and support for our talented entourage of singers.
We are also very lucky to have a number of recording artists and multiple award winners within our membership, and are particularly proud of our young up and coming artists, starting from as young as three.
We warmly welcome all visitors, and look forward to having you share in an afternoon of great country music with us. We meet every second Sunday at either Hotel Motueka, High Street, Motueka, or the Municipal Brass Band Room, Wharf Road, Motueka - check out our club calendar to find out when our next club day falls and to confirm the venue.
The Beginnings
The Club was founded by a small group of enthusiasts in 1983. Monty Gibbins was a founding member and along with a small hard working committee introduced the Top of the South Country Music Awards, the first two as an amalgamated event held in Nelson. Renowned singer Faye Charlett was also involved with initiating the success of the soon to be annual event.
