Over the years the Top of the South Country Music Awards continue to prove that country music is alive and well in our region, and this year’s event was certainly no exception. In fact 2008 brought a record number of entries for the Top of the South with a wopping 330 acts.

At last year’s 25th annual awards, the competition was certainly of a very high standard, but in the end it was Westports Carol Shingleton who reined supreme, being named 2009 Top of the South Entertainer of The Year.

It was awesome to note the warm camaraderie amongst competitors, and the strong support from another packed out crowd at the Motueka Memorial Hall for last year’s finals concert.

Once again the committee is indebted to all of the generous sponsors who get behind us and help to make this wonderful weekend possible.
